Lorna’s turning 40 and we’re doing a thing.
The Important Stuff
We’ve hired a gite in France with 12 bedrooms, a huge kitchen and even a function room in which we can banquet and roller disco.
We’re inviting you to join us for the week so we can just hang out, go off on day trips, eat a lot of cheese and croissants…all in the name of Lorna turning 40.
Where: France, near La Rochelle (sort of)
When: 5th - 12th August 2026
Why: Lorna’s going to be 40 years old
What: Just getting friends and family together in a nice place where we have a holiday. Lots of eating French food and fun.
The Dates
The accommodation is booked from the 5th, until the 12th of August 2026.
You can arrive at the accommodation in the afternoon of the 5th, and we will be leaving on the morning of the 12th. We will be more specific closer to the time when we have the details.

It takes approximately 7 hours by car from Calais.

I’ll post some recommendations on how to get there soon, but French roads are very good, and it’s a painless journey.
The Accommodation
I’ve made a page for the accommodation, see below, but here are the main points:
Your party will be allocated a room that’s just yours. Let me know if you have any special requirements.
The communal areas are big enough for everybody to hang out.
There are decent facilities at the accommodation so it should be very comfortable, even if you’re old.
The Money & Expenses
We have to have an awkward conversation about money because we need a contribution please to make this happen.
Adults: £200 each
Children: £100 each
Food & Other Bits
The biggest expense will be food, but if we can coordinate a food shop and everyone chips in, we can take it in turns doing evening meals between us, including the cooking.
Anneka Evans has already created a laundry rota and laminated it.
